Live Fire Training Prepares Us for the Real Thing

A house scheduled for demolition was recently used to practice attacking actual fires. The homeowners plan to build a new home and graciously offered the PHFD use of the home for such training. Prospect Heights Companies Train with Other Division Fire Departments

Prospect Height Fire District companies have spent the last 3 weeks training with neighboring fire departments. Fire crews from the area have participated in multi company drills at the Northeastern Illinois Public Safety Academy (NIPSTA) in Glenview. These drills are held in the spring and fall of each year. Frefighters train in Foam Techniques

In August Prospect Heights and Wheeling firefighters trained together on the use of foam. Such training is infrequent due to the logistics involved. Using equipment from both departments the firefighters were able to apply their skills to produce the foam by mixing concentrate with tank water and then using hose lines and vehicle nozzles to apply foam blanket to a simulated spill and fire. Citizen CPR Makes the Difference; Paramedics Save Life

On 9/8/16 at about 11:18 hours bystanders witnessed a person go into cardiac arrest in the Rob Roy Country Club Village was transmitted. Bystanders began CPR and others called 9-1-1. When paramedics arrived the patient was still unconscious without a pulse and was not breathing. PH Firefighters Practice Auto Extrication

Firefighters must be ready to extricate those trapped in a crashed auto. Practicing the cutting, prying, lifting, and displacement of mangled auto components is essential. Recently Gene's Village Towing and the Wheel-Inn provided several cars for our firefighters to practice on. Prospect Heights fire chief retires

Mayor presents Chief Gould with Lifetime Achievement award

At this year’s Mayor’s Breakfast held Saturday, April 30th Mayor Helmer presented Chief Gould with the PROSPECT HEIGHTS LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT award for his 49 years of service to the city as a member of the fire department.
