Prospect Heights firefighter/paramedics responded about 11:57 PM Thursday August 9, 2018 to a report of a fire on a balcony, 20 Country Club Drive Police first on scene reported they extinguished the fire with a fire extinguisher.

The fire was located on a second floor balcony. Prospect Heights firefighters immediately checked for extension of fire into the building. Ten Prospect Heights firefighters worked for more than 30 minutes to cut and remove deck board and trim to ensure the fire was 100 percent out and had not spread into the building. No injuries noted or reported.

Mount Prospect and Wheeling firefighters were dispatched on the initial alarm as standard procedure anytime there is a report of a fire in a structure. Ultimately, these two departments were dismissed after standing by.
