PHFD Partners with MacArthur Middle School for Design Competition

MacArthur Middle School is thrilled to partner with the Prospect Heights Fire Department to design artwork for fire prevention week. Students at MacArthur have been working together for the last three weeks to brainstorm and share ideas, plan their designs and obtain feedback from their peers in order to create their exciting designs.
Using the annual fire prevention campaign of “Look. Listen. Learn. Be aware. Fire can happen anywhere,” as their subject matter, Mrs. Hendricks’ 6th, 7th and 8th grade art classes and students throughout the school are creating innovative designs that teach fire safety. Three submissions will be selected to be reproduced in vinyl and displayed on PHFD’s three fire trucks for one year. “This is such a wonderful opportunity for the students at MacArthur,” Mrs. Hendricks stated. “It’s so exciting for the kids to have the chance for their artwork to be displayed in a public area for family and friends to see.”
The three winning submissions will be announced in October and the designs will be unveiled on the fire trucks at the Prospect Heights Fire Department Open House on October 13th. The community is invited to attend the open house and view the students’ award-winning designs.
