Despite rainy conditions, it was estimated that over 250 people attended our annual Open House held on Oct. 14th.. Besides the display of fire fighting vehicles, brand new Tanker 9 had its first public display. Tanker 9 was just received on Thursday Oct 12th and all the needed equipment was put on the vehicle that night. The vehicle carries 3000 gallons of water, hose, ladders and other firefighting equipment. The Fire District relies upon the Tanker because half of the Fire District does not have a public water supply or hydrants. Other displays included Comfort Dogs, a stabilized vehicle, child size combat challenge, a slide pole provided by the Buffalo Grove Fire Department and a video/practical demonstration of what should be done done if you would encounter smoke upon opening your bedroom door. As in past years, a lunch of hot dogs, chips and lemonade was served
