The Des Plaines Elks recently donated $2,000 for the purchase of ballistic equipment used to protect our responders when confronted with an active shooter situation. The days of waiting to ensure that no threat remains is over and medical personnel are needed to work with police to remove and treat patients injured in a timely manner. We hope to never have to use this equipment, but we are prepared and train with our police department regularly.
