Public Notice COVID-19 Corona Virus Disease 2019

By Prospect Heights Press Release
March 11, 2020

PUBLIC NOTICE:

Firefighter Paramedics are exposed to a variety of illnesses every day. The COVID19 adds an increased risk. The PHFPD must do all it can to ensure that the necessary emergency response force will be available to serve the public.

Due to the threat imposed by the rapidly evolving COVID-19 (Corona Virus Disease 2019), the members of the Prospect Heights Fire Protection District will be refraining from participating in non-emergency activities with groups. This is an effort to limit their exposure to possible sources of the disease as well as protect the public from any exposure. Social Distancing is an effective strategy to limit exposure and disease transmission.

Until further notice, members of the public will not be able to visit the firehouses and Firefighter Paramedics will not be making public appearances at gatherings such as schools or community groups. We regret any inconvenience this may cause but it is a necessary measure based on guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and the Illinois Department of Public Health.

The PHFPD reminds everyone to wash their hands frequently and use cough etiquette. Additionally, anyone with a cough or fever should not be out in public and consult a health care professional.

As always, the members of the PHFPD stand ready to answer your 9-1-1 any time of the day or night.

Drew R. Smith,
EFO/CFO, LP Fire Chief
