The Prospect Heights Fire Protection District announces that its Ambulances are now equipped with Power Lifting cots which automatically lifts and lowers patients with the touch of a button. The new equipment is designed to assist the Paramedics when lifting and lowering patients thus helping prevent back injuries to our emergency responders and making the lifting and lowering of the cots safer for the patients.

The Fire District received a grant from our Workers Compensation Insurance carrier, the Illinois Public Risk Fund, in the amount of $31,726 that was used to fund the total cost of two cots in the amount of $35,765.00.

The total cost to the Fire District, after the grant, for the purchase of the two cots was $4,039.00. The District is thankful to receive the grant for the purchase of the two Power Costs after attempting to budget for this purchase for several years, but due to financial constraints, funding was not available.
