| Recently members of the PHFD with Technical Rescue Training (TRT) participated in advanced training on how to rig our aerial platform truck as a high anchor point. Using props at NIPSTA and working with firefighters from MABAS Divisions 1 and 3 (our mutual aid partners from the north and northwest suburbs) more than 50 techs tried a variety of techniques on simulated industrial environments. Although rare and infrequent, incidents requiring technical operations need those specially trained members to be successful. TRT firefighters receive more than 300 hours of specialized training which is in addition to the more than 1000 hours of paramedic training and 400 hours of entry-level firefighter training. |
