| After more than 45 years with the fire district, Fire Chief Drew Smith will be retiring on October 23rd 2026. Chief Smith began his career with The Prospect Heights Fire Protection District in 1981. He became the departments EMS Coordinator in 1983. He was promoted to Lieutenant in 1984. He became District Chief and the department's training officer in 1989. He was hired full-time as Deputy Chief in 2000. Following his stint as Deputy Chief, he was promoted to Fire Chief in 2016.
Chief Smith has been instrumental in the progress of the organization and is well-known all throughout MABAS Division 3 and the surrounding communities. In honor of his illustrious career, the PHFPD will be holding a retirement ceremony for Chief Smith. Due to the construction of our headquarters station, the event will be held at The Old Orchard Country Club.
Chief Smith will take one last ride in the fire truck before arriving to family, friends, current members, and alumni for a walk-in ceremony. Please arrive prior to 4pm so we can have everyone line up and welcome Chief Smith when he arrives at the event. The ceremony will start shortly after his walk-in to the event. Following the ceremony there will be an opportunity to take pictures with Chief Smith and the fire trucks. |
