Lt. Szczech retires after 33+ years of service

On May 28th, 2014 fellow firefighters sent off one of their own after a dedicated 33 ½ years of service to the Prospect Heights Community. Lieutenant Jeffery Szczech’s last duty day was celebrated with a luncheon and cake around the headquarters’ kitchen table. Jeff started with the Fire District as a paid-on-call member in December of 1981. In April of 1989 he was promoted to Lieutenant and from 2000 to 2005 he served as a Shift Commander for the District. During his tenure at the Fire District Lt. Szczech took on many roles; firefighter, paramedic, paramedic coordinator, lieutenant, shift commander, assistant training officer, hazardous materials instructor and airport training instructor. Lieutenant Szczech we wish you the best in your future endeavors and hope you come back to visit us from time to time, you will be greatly missed.
