What a lucky day for a family of ducks when a concerned citizen stopped by the fire station and informed the crew of a momma duck that was worried for her babies. She said that a family of ducks were near their home when all the little ducklings fell into a storm drain. The momma was still there on top of the sewer grate helpless and the resident could here the little ones crying for help.

Members of the Prospect Heights Fire District went to the area near School and Olive and saw the ducklings down in the storm sewer. "We opened a storm drain across the street and flushed 'em back toward an awaiting firefighter's hands." stated Firefighter Douglas Golonka, a member of the engine crew.

A very anxious mother and father were waiting in the wings as the firefighters attempted this rescue of their young ones. Six little ducklings in all were rescued.
