On Wednesday, June 18 firefighters Sergio Delgado and Marc DeSardi graduated from the Northwest Community Hospital paramedic training program after nine months and for more than 1000 hours of classroom and clinical training. Both will soon take the Illinois Department of Public Heath written exam after which they will be full licensed to practice as paramedics and being work on our ambulances.

Delgado was appointed to the PHFD in July of 2013. DeSardi was appointed in October of 2013. Both had previously completed entry-level firefighter training at the Northeastern Illinois Public Safety Training Academy – NIPSTA and Emergency Medical Technician training at Northwest Community Hospital.

At the conclusion of the graduation ceremony Delgado took the opportunity to propose marriage to his now-fiancé, Amanda Cardi who eagerly accepted his request.

Congratulations Marc, Sergio and Amanda!
