The Prospect Heights Fire District accepted the ALS challenge from their fellow public safety friends at the Prospect Heights Police Department. On Friday, August 22nd on duty firefighters donated as well as organized their version of the ice bucket challenge, using the fire districts porta-tank, tower ladder and tanker. In completing our challenge we now challenge the Long Grove Fire District and the members of our regional dispatch center at RED Center in Northbrook, we hope you will complete the challenge and DONATE! ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis) also known as “Lou Gehrig’s Disease” is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects never cells in the brain and spinal cord. The disease affects muscle movement and progressively leads to paralysis.
