Job well done! Fire District issues first “Company Citation” to responding paramedics.

In January of this year a visitor to our community suffered a serious cardiac emergency that lead to his heart stopping and a stoppage of his breathing. Responding paramedics arrived and immediately started advanced life support care to the 67 year old Des Plaines resident. The patient was transported to Northwest Community in extremely critical condition.

Fast forward two months to March 17th Board of Trustees meeting where Dale Nelson stopped by to participate in a ceremony honoring the team effort of the paramedics that saved his life and will allow him to greet his third grandchild due in the in the coming months.
“I was told by the doctors that I had a 2% chance of living and at one time the doctors told my children to prepare for the worse”, said Nelson. I am here today because of your hard work and dedication to your paramedic skills and training, I thank you and my children and grandchildren thank you.

This is the first Company Citation award given by the Fire District to honor the exemplary work of the Red Shift crew.
