Water supply operations with AHFD

Prospect Heights and Arlington Heights firefighters trained together on the tactics and skills of water supply. With much of Prospect Heights without fire hydrants water for fires must be pumped a far distance. The PHFD uses a large water tanker truck to bring 3000 gallons to the scene for initial operations. If this is inadequate then large hose, often referred to as “above-ground water main” is laid down and pumped into. This hose operation requires coordination and practice and that’s what the both department’s practiced over three days to ensure the more than 80 firefighters were up to date on the operation.
