The Prospect Heights Fire Protection District (PHFPD) is a special district unit of government organized pursuant to 70 ILCS 705/, the Fire Protection District Act. Since 1944 the PHFPD has provided fire suppression and prevention, emergency medical services, and related emergency services. We also provide mutual aid service to other fire departments in northern Cook County and Lake County. The total amount of its 2025 budget is $6,467,000.00.

Within the PHFPD, and independent of the board of trustees are the:

Board of Fire Commissioners;

None of these operate in an advisory capacity relative to the operation of the public body, or exercise control over its policies or procedures, or which the PHFPD is required to report and be answerable for its operations.
