By Fire Chief Drew Smith
June 22, 2020

In the past month we have tested all 18,000 feet of fire hose to ensure it is ready to fight a fire. We have also been conducting training of several probationary firefighters. Six paramedics are preparing to start the fire academy in July. On top of all of that we still have emergencies to respond to. That’s our top priority: Responding to your problem. In the past 30 days we have handled over 200 calls for service. A sample of that includes:
46 (really) sick people
16 behavioral health emergencies
4 cardiac arrest
2 overdoses
A car crash into a building
Plus invalid assists, persons who fell, heart attacks,

We also assisted other area fire departments.
On June 10 the Elk Grove Township fire department has several semi-trailers on fire and we sent our tanker to supply them with additional water.
On June 12 the Wheeling Fire Department has workers who fell inside a water tower and needed rescue. We sent a crew to provide technical assistance in the rescue.
On June 16 and 21 Des Plaines Fire Department had fires in two separate structures and we provided assistance in bringing those fires under control.

We are ready and able 24 hours a day, seven days a week and come on a moment’s notice. We are happy and honored to serve you when needed. Never hesitate to dial 9-1-1 as ask for us to respond to your home or family’s emergency.

Our Mission: “Delivering exceptional services for everyone with Courtesy, Respect, and Empathy”.
